Anurag Kashyap is a renowned film director, writer, producer and actor, who has made some of Hindi cinema’s most compelling films. Kashyap got his first major break as a co-writer in Ram Gopal Varma’s crime drama Satya in 1998, and went on to direct Black Friday in 2007, a film based on the 1993 Mumbai bombings. Kashyap’s DevD in 2009 was an impressive study in film noir. Gulaal, Girl in Yellow Boots and the now legendary two-part crime drama, Gangs of Wasseypur established him as a director with a deep and astute perception of reality and great finesse. His most recent film Mukkabaaz is a sports drama, released earlier this year. Kashyap has been awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) in 2013 by the Government of France; he is the founder of two production companies: Anurag Kashyap Films and Phantom Films in partnership with fellow directors Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl and producer Madhu Mantena.
