Born in 1980, Atul has fond memories of growing up in the late 1980s and the early ’90s, also one of the most turbulent times for independent India. Residing just 80 kilometres away from Ayodhya, the theatre of the Babri Masjid-Ram Mandir confrontation, he lived through the bloody communal violence when he was only 10. Always aspiring to pen those memories in a book, Atul has been a journalist for almost two decades now. Currently Executive Editor of Newslaundry, he was in the founding teams of the Tehelka Hindi magazine and the CatchNews Hindi website, where he served as Editor. A reporter at heart, he has won the Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism in 2010 and 2013.
