John Samuel Raja Duraipandy
Founder of How India Lives, John is an economist by training, a financial journalist by experience, and a data fiend at heart. As a journalist he wrote on corporate affairs and economy for The Economic Times, Outlook Business, Business Standard and Mint, actively using data as a forensic tool. In the last five years, he focused on doing stories based on public information (an area mostly ignored), and uncovering corporate malfeasance. In 2012, as a Tow-Knight Fellow in the entrepreneurial journalism programme of the City University of New York, John crystallised his business idea of making available public data in a searchable and visual format into How India Lives which completed three years last December, and has so far, built three data products and serviced more than 30 clients.
