Conceived by India’s leading independent news media platform Newslaundry, and produced by pioneering entertainment and arts company Teamwork Arts, the 3rd edition of The Media Rumble (TMR) is scheduled to take place between August 2nd and 3rd, 2019, at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

Bringing together global best practices in journalism, TMR features eminent Indian and international media practitioners, newsmakers, innovators and visionaries, some of whom have never addressed forums in India before. Attendees have the opportunity to witness uninhibited discussions among media stalwarts and engage in dialogue during sessions on some of the world’s most impactful news stories, technological innovations in news content and listen to leading media investors.

To help orchestrate an event of this scale and prestige, we welcome willing and able volunteers to join The Media Rumble family. Volunteers will form the backbone of the Forum, and therefore, we're looking for passionate, sincere and dedicated people who wish to work 'behind the scenes' and are keen to learn about the mechanisms of production and hospitality.

Before applying to be a volunteer for TMR, please read the Terms and Conditions carefully:

  • Registration for volunteering is open till 5 PM, 15 July 2019.
  • Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years of age.
  • First preference when selecting volunteers will go to those residing in Delhi/having accommodation arrangements in Delhi.
  • Ensure that the details you have entered are correct and read through the form thoroughly before submitting.
  • Once shortlisted, applicants will be called in for an interview and will be intimated of the same via email. A skype/telephonic interview will be conducted for volunteers who have worked with us for other festivals.
  • Those applying for the first time will have to be present for a personal interview which will be conducted at our office in Sultanpur, NCR. The training and interview process is mandatory.
  • Once you have been allotted a department, there will be no changes made. Please do respect the outcome of our volunteer selection process. While you will be assigned a specific department, you may be required to help out and take on additional roles, when needed.
  • We would appreciate a ten-day prior notice if any volunteer wishes to back out after he/she has been selected.
  • Volunteers will be required to come for a detailed venue walk, orientation and team building session on 31st July/ 1st Aug which will be succeeded by 2 days of the forum.
  • Volunteers will be expected to work from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm (tentative).
  • Teamwork Arts will not take care of travel, transport and accommodation of outstation volunteers. However, lunch and/or refreshments will be provided to all; exact meal timings will of course depend on individual working hours.
  • Those selected to be volunteers will receive a basic honorarium and certificate/letter of appreciation for their work after the event.

Selected volunteers will be assigned specific departments and duties (at the discretion of the organisers); which are listed below. These duties may change according to the requirements of the forum. Please read carefully.


Your responsibility will be to receive the audience and check identity cards/documents as well as help in registering our delegates, speakers and guests separately. You’ll be working alongside our ticketing and registration partners to ensure this process is carried out smoothly. You’ll be the ‘face’ of the Forum, making first contact with our audiences and speakers as they make their way to the venue.

Logistics (Transport & Accommodation)

Volunteers will be in charge of taking care of each speaker’s itinerary, organising appropriate transportation between the Forum venue and hotels and handling their accommodation. One of the most stimulating albeit most challenging departments, Logistics requires meticulous time-keeping and organisational skills. Volunteers in this department must be quick thinkers and be able to tackle any problem(s) that may arise and of course, be courteous at all times.

Information Desk

Volunteers working at the Information Desk will be required to literally know-it-all. But without the attitude of a know-it-all! You’ll need to know the venues and schedule like the back of your hand and keep up to date with any programme changes. Volunteers will also be responsible for welcoming audiences as they enter the venue; hence friendly faces always willing to help are a must! You will also manage the Lost and Found.

Venue Management

Volunteers will make sure that all venues are ready prior to every session and see to basic requirements being available and amenities such as water, stationary etc. are well stocked. As with most other roles, you'll need to be quick on your feet, patient and courteous. While you may have a front row seat to watching some of the world's greatest newsmakers and journalists, you will have to prioritise and ensure that your venue functions smoothly. Volunteers will also be managing the crowd and ushering people in and out of venues.

Speaker Liaison

Volunteers in this department will receive the speaker(s) and ensure they are prepared and present at the venue well in time for their session. Being truly hospitable and warm, and making a concerted effort to fulfil every request from speakers will be your prime responsibility.

Sponsor Management

These volunteers are assigned different venues where they will coordinate with venue managers, technical staff and the sponsorship team to make sure that branding as promised to sponsors is displayed correctly.

Food and Beverage and Lounge Management

Volunteers in the department will need to ensure our lounges are stocked with refreshments, session venues provided with adequate bottles of waters and meals are laid out on time. Volunteers will also need to help manage crowds during peak hours.

Social Media

Do you live and breathe social media? This is a great opportunity for you to work alongside our digital team and hone in your photography and content writing skills. Volunteers will be required to work on ground to capture the ambience of the Forum, behind the scenes activities and key sessions to generate online content for the Forum. Applicants with a background or interest in advertising, branding and digital media are encouraged to apply.
